The PTA-UK (formally known as the NCPTA) are asking every local and national business to adopt a school and work through the PTA to help deliver new projects and resources into schools.
They aim to raise an extra £10m a year and work with over 200,000 businesses to provide extra facilities and resources to millions of schoolchildren throughout the UK.
The simplicity of the project means anyone and everyone can join in, from the local plumber or takeaway to a multi-national blue chip company on the nearby business park. This is an opportunity for the whole community to work together and invest in their local schools - the future of their community.
It's easy to participate
Businesses can pledge to give money, provide their skills, offer raffle prizes, collect recycled mobile phones & ink cartridges or allow their staff time to help develop a new project at the school e.g. build a vegetable patch.
The power of PTA
The Friends of Harewood is a member of PTA-UK, and part of a team that includes over 13,500 schools with 130,000 active, resourceful committee members and seven million parents. This makes us an extremely formidable force. Nationally PTAs already raise over £100m every year, making us one of the biggest volunteer groups in the UK. Adoptaschool will help us to harness our potential and that of all our parents. We can provide every single committee member and parent with everything needed to get local businesses to adopt our school.
How it works
We will put together a wish list of the appeals for the year, this could be anything from purchasing a new camera to creating a sensory garden. Local businesses can then donate money against the item, provide the tools required to complete a task or allow their staff to take the time off to physically help get the project off the ground.
Proud sponsors of PTAs
Every business will be promoted on the PTA-UK website as a 'Proud Sponsor of PTAs'. Parents and families will be able to see all the businesses who have adopted their school and the donations they have made.
Please contact the Friends of Harewood for more details - all supporters of Harewood Junior School will also be acknowledged on this website.
