football.jpg Coaches to Wembley Stadium

The Friends of Harewood paid for several coaches to take the school football team and many supporters to Wembley Stadium for the under 11 schoolboy football finals in 2009. The football team made the whole school community very proud by winning.

Courtyard1.jpg Courtyard Redevelopment Project

The Friends of Harewood paid for the redevelopment of the courtyard between the year 3 and 4 corridors, the project was carried out during the Easter break of 2011 at a cost of £5,382. This new area has several raised planting beds and can be used as an outdoor classroom.

polytunnel.JPG Gardening Club Funding

The Friends of Harewood were asked to make funds available in May 2011 for the gardening club to purchase guttering for the poly tunnel which would make it easier to water the plants from collected rain water, the cost for the guttering was around £45-50, so the group gave £100 to pay for compost, seeds and plants which were also required.

coins.jpg Science Club Funding

The Friends of Harewood were asked to make funds available for the set up of a science club in February 2012. The money asked for was only £40 and was used to purchase much needed equipment. 

entrance.jpg School Council Budget

The Friends of Harewood were asked to make funds available for the school council this request was made by Jackie Kelly. The school council could then use this money to make their own purchases giving them more independence a fund of £200 was agreed with the option of adding more funds if required.

coins.jpg Year 3 Enterprise Initiative 

The Friends of Harewood funded an enterprise initiative in February 2010 to help year 3 pupils learn about money. Each child was given a £1 coin and asked to make a profit, a total of £717.78 was made from baking cakes, washing cars, household chores, raffles and several other enterprising ideas. This initiative was repeated in April 2011 making a profit of £701.00

coins.jpg Year 6 Enterprise Initiative 

The Friends of Harewood funded an enterprise initiative similar to the ones for year 3 pupils, this was requested by staff of year 6 pupils to help raise funds to pay for transport to Viney Hill Adventure Centre in 2012. This initiative made a profit of £460.00.

The Friends of Harewood were asked to make funds available for year 6 in January 2011, the funds were used to pay for a healthy lifestyles consultant attend the school to support the PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) curriculum (a facility that would otherwise have had to be cancelled due to budget cuts).

breakfast.JPGYear 6 SATs Breakfast Funding

The Friends of Harewood were asked to make funds available for year 6 SATs breakfasts in May 2011, the funds were used to ensure the children were relaxed and ready to complete
the tests. The breakfasts also helped the children concentrate during the day and ensured they achieve the best possible results.

 

puppets.jpgYear Group Enrichment Funding

The Friends of Harewood were asked to make funds available for each year group in 2010 which was used for purposes of enrichment during the variety of topics covered throughout
the school, this request was made by Jane Martin, Acting Head Teacher because of the limited school budget, a fund of £500 per year group was agreed and some of this money has been used to purchase materials for puppets in year 3.
